Regulations governing the process of determining laureates for the "Brand of the Year" award.
1. The "Brand of the Year" award is given in 40 categories of foodstuffs and commodities. The categories reflect sorts of goods best selling in retail stores
2. Throughout the year monthly surveys are conducted by survey agency of the National Trade Association among heads of sales departments of largest retail enterprises in Russia. The results of surveys are confirmed by relevant documents.

4. The survey encompasses 500 retail trade enterprises in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Arkhangelsk, Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk
5. Additionally the survey results are confirmed by the NTA advisory council consisting of 30 heads of retail and wholesale trading enterprises, managers of leading manufacturing companies, experts of market surveying agencies, representatives of federal and regional ministries and departments of trade. The list of members of the advisory council is published in “Trade News” magazine.
6. 5 items of goods are selected for each category. The annual rating is composed on the results of monthly surveys. Items occupying places from 2 to 5 are called laureates and top rankers are called winners of "Brand of the Year" award.
7. Both laureates and winners take part in the "Brand of the Year" awarding ceremony and receive Laureates’ Certificates and awards.
