| |  |  | 1997: 1. “Trade University” Company – a predecessor of NTA - is set up. Its main objective is coordinating activities of Russian retail trade firms and introducing advanced and high-potential trading practices. 2. The first large-scale retail trade seminars held in Moscow, St.Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. 3. International Conference for food trade held in Moscow, attended by major domestic and Western manufacturers and Moscow trading companies. 4. “Trade News” is launched as a monthly journal targeting professionals in trade sector. 5. The first educational video course “Prevention of Shoplifting and Security in Retail Trade” is made and distributed.
1998: 1. Association for Independent Retail Trade (ANRT) is set up on the basis of “Trade University”. 2. Association for Independent Retail Trade convenes its first largest business forum of the year, “Commerce in Russia” conference, in “Metropol” Hotel.
1999: 1. In April, “Trade News” launches a new regular heading, “Brand of the month”, presenting results of a survey of Moscow stores. 2. In October, the Second International Conference “Commerce in Russia” is held at “President Hotel” in Moscow. Over 450 largest Russian trading companies participate in the conference.
2000: 1. Association for Independent Retail Trade together with Moscow International Business Association hold a “Brand of the Year” award ceremony at Moscow Academic Arts Theater named after Gorky 2. In June, Association for Independent Retail Trade together with Moscow International Business Association hold an official “Golden Scales” award ceremony in the Big Conference Hall of the Moscow City Administration. The best companies engaged in the shop equipment, design and technology sector are named in the presence of government officials and representatives of largest trading companies. 3. Association for Independent Retail Trade changes its name to “National Trade Association”, thus dropping the word “retail”. NTA’s major objective is developing and strengthening Russian trade traditions in various business fields, and expanding the scale of professional activities. 4. In October, the Third International Conference “Commerce in Russia” – the biggest commercial forum of the year - is convened. Within the framework of the Conference, an exhibition of modern trade technologies is held. 5. In December, the second “Brand of the Year” award ceremony is held at the Variety Theater. The ceremony is attended by top executives of leading enterprises, trading companies, government officials. The ceremony is broadcast by TV-6 channel. 6. Journal “TN. Shop equipment” is launched in April.
2001: 1. In June, the first International Exhibition Forum “Trade World” is convened in Moscow’s Gostiny Dvor. The exhibition houses exhibits from over 100 Companies and welcomes about 10,000 visitors. In the framework of the forum, seminars, conferences and “Golden Scales” and “Man of the Trade” awarding ceremonies are held. 2. The Fourth Conference “Commerce in Russia” held in September. 3. The third “Brand of the Year” awarding ceremony held at the “New Opera” Theater in November. 4. A professional monthly journal “Restaurateur” is launched in April.
2002: 1. In June, the Second International Exhibition Forum “Trade World” is held in Gostiny Dvor with the support of Moscow Administration, RF Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, National Trade Association and Moscow International Business Association. The Second International Exhibition Forum “Trade World” incorporated two international exhibitions - “Trade World” and “Restaurant World”, five international conferences, as well as a range of master-classes and professional seminars. 2. In September, the fifth conference “Commerce in Russia. International Experience. Russia’s Prospects” is held jointly with RF Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in the Big Conference Hall of the Moscow City Administration. 3. The fourth “Brand of the Year” Awards Ceremony held in November. 4. “Chef” magazine is launched in December as a professional periodical for chef-cooks, pastry-cooks and cookery experts. 5. “All-Russian Program for Retail Trade Development” and “All-Russian Program for Public Catering Development” are launched. These represent a series of monthly conferences in various Russian cities.
2003: 1. “Restaurant Business. Ufa” seminar is organised in March by National Trade Association, “Restaurateur” magazine and Ufa City Administration. The seminar brings together over one hundred participants, providing evidence of an oncoming restaurant boom in Ufa. 2. The first seminars under the “Commerce in Russia. Regions” program take place in Yekaterinburg, Perm, Ufa, Rostov-on-Don. |
